Katariina Hatakka

Katariina joined Resolve in 2021, and requalified as a lawyer in New South Wales in 2023, after relocating to Sydney from Germany where she worked in-house in the areas of M&A, commercial law and compliance, as well as employment law. In addition to her German Law qualifications, Katariina obtained her LLB and MA (Medical Ethics and Law) at King’s College London. Katariina is actively involved in the NSW Young Lawyers Civil Litigation Subcommittee and the Litigation Law and Practice Committee of the Law Society of NSW, as well as a member of the German Australian Pacific Law Association and the Medico-Legal Society of NSW.

Katariina has a particular interest in commercial litigation, competition and consumer law as well as compliance.

Expertise

  • advising clients in relation to consumer law claims, including for misleading or deceptive conduct under the Australian Consumer Law, ASIC Act 2001 (Cth) and the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) in proceedings in the Supreme Court of New South Wales; and
  • independent compliance reviews of various ASX listed and private companies pursuant to court orders or undertakings given to the ACCC under section 87B of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
  • advising clients in relation to various commercial and contractual disputes and litigation, including in relation to financial services and property disputes in Local Court, District Court and Supreme Court proceedings in New South Wales and Queensland; and
  • advising clients in relation to debt recovery for professional services including in Supreme Court proceedings in New South Wales and Queensland.
  • advising witnesses in ASIC examinations of various ASX listed companies.
  • advising clients in relation to infringements of trademarks, copyright and plant breeder rights.
  • advising clients in relation to employment law disputes.
