Policing your moral rights

‘Policing’ your moral rights under the Copyright Act and Australian Consumer Law - McCallum v Projector Films Pty Ltd [2026] FCA 173

The recent case of McCallum has developed the Australian case law relating to moral rights, a relatively new concept in Australia incorporated into the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) (the Act). It also serves as a reminder of the limitation of the moral rights regime and the importance of the Australian Consumer Law (the ACL) in ‘policing’ an author’s moral rights.
